Joung-ah has been working in the refugee field for 22 years. She began her career during the Bosnian war in 1994. She was UNHCR Spokesperson during the Rwanda and Kosovo emergencies and later based in Washington, DC. At HQ, she helped create and manage UNHCR’s Global Campaign to End Statelessness and headed communications for the Europe Bureau during last year’s refugee crisis. Currently, she leads UNHCR’s global emergency fundraising campaigns.

She speaks English, French, Italian, Korean and Spanish has been published and featured widely in the media. She has guest lectured at the Oxford Refugee Studies Centre, Princeton University, and regularly represents UNHCR at public events.
