Since March 2015, Jean-Marc Châtaigner is the Deputy-Executive Director of Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD). Before moving to this position, Châtaigner was the Deputy Director General for Global Affairs, Development and Partnerships at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Previously, he was Ambassador of France to Madagascar (2009/2012), Director of the Office of the Minister of State for Cooperation and Francophonie (2007/2009), Director of the Department of Strategic Planning and Partnerships (2004/2007) at AFD (French Development Agency). He was co-chair of the OECD’s Fragile States Group (2005/2007) and the chair in 2015 of MOPAN (Multilateral Organisation Performance Assessment Network). He wrote various books and articles on development and peace-building issues. He is the chief editor of the first French book on Resilience (“Fragilités et résilience : les nouvelles frontières de la mondialisation”).
