Benoît Miribel has been, since January 2007, the Director General of Fondation Mérieux, an organization dedicated to the fight against infectious diseases mainly in developing countries. He has also been the Honorary Chairman of Action against Hunger (ACF) since June 2013, an association that he chaired from 2010 to 2013 and directed from 2003 to 2006.
He has chaired the Centre Français des Fonds et Foundations (CFF) since June 2015.
Previously, he was Director General of the Institut Bioforce Développement (1997/2002), and before that, with Action against Hunger, Director of Communications and Development (1995/1997), and Head of Programs in Liberia, Angola, Myanmar, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cambodia, Laos, and Mozambique. He began his career with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon (CCIL) at Lyon’s St. Exupéry airport, as head of international flights.
Benoît Miribel is also President of Bioport, a humanitarian logistics platform in Lyon, since June 2015. He is co-founder of the Forum Espace Humanitaire (FEH), of the bilingual journal, Humanitarian Alternatives, and a co-founding member of the association, Friendship France, which operates in Bangladesh.
In 2010, he co-authored with Alain Boinet a report commissioned by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs (B. Kouchner) on the development of humanitarian action and its challenges.
He has also a been a member of the High Council for International Cooperation, the White Paper Commission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008), and the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights (1998–2001 and 2011–2013).
He is a graduate of IEP Lyon and holds a Master’s in International Relations from the University of Paris Panthéon Sorbonne. He has been appointed to the rank of Knight of the Legion of Honor.
