François Chaillou has been managing director of a French association based in Tours (France) which aims at improving home conditions for vulnerable people. Meanwhile, he was vice-president of the well-known French Foundation called “Fondation Abbé Pierre” (Paris-France). Since 2014, he was given the responsibility of Presiding a social investment company created by the Foundation called SOLIFAP. This company seeks to help out French associations that are fighting against poor housing and home conditions to maintain and develop their activities. In that purpose, three sort of activities have been implemented by SOLIFAP:
- A financial activity, which consists of strengthening the financial situation of those association by lending high-balance loans and proposing bank loan guarantees,
- A real estate activity, through which SOLIFAP purchases, owns and rents flats or houses in the objective to create affordable housing solutions,
- A consulting activity, in order to finance strategic consulting services for association that need to think or rethink their model and want to be accompanied by professionals in this process.
