Gaël Giraud is a French economist specialized in the general equilibrium theory, the game theory, finance, alternative measures of development and energy issues. He is Chief Economist at the French Development Agency (AFD), as well as member of the French Government Steering Committee for energy transition and member of the “Riskergy” research team on energy risk and the sovereign debt. He is also a member of the European NGO Finance Watch and the Nicolas Hulot Foundation. Alumni of Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris, ENSAE (Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Economique) and CORE (Center of Operational Research), he obtained his PhD in Econometry from Ecole Polytechnique in 1998. He has been named Best Young French Economist by the newspaper Le Monde and the Cercle des économistes in 2009.
